Two Week Sweater

After the long time I had St Brigid on the needles, I decided I needed a quick project. This sweater is the Seamless Hybrid sweater following Elizabeth Zimmermann’s percentage system. I’d forgotten that of my 3 hanks of Eco Wool, two were similar and one was crazy dark. So when I was ready to use the third hank, I knew that I needed stripes to give some space before I started with the much darker marl. Thankfully I had some plain brown eco wool.

The End of a Long, Long Road

On May 14, 2008, I cast on for St Brigid from an interlibrary loan copy of Aran Knitting. On September 26, 2010, I finally cast off, using my very own copy of the reprint of the book. I will work on getting lots of pictures in the next few days to celebrate the journey that took more than two years but I couldn’t wait to tell folks it was done.

Learning Applique

Quilt Finished

I finished a quilt today. Jody has already claimed it as his own. Now it’s time to start sewing trick or treat bags for the grandkids. Then, finally, a quilt for me.

I’m also making some headway on St Brigid.

Ormolu

Pattern: Ormolu by Barbara Gregory from Spring 2010 Twist Collective

Yarn: Mission Falls 136, in Colors Amethyst, Damson and Dijon

Needles: US 5, US 4

This pattern is a mosaic pattern so it’s a really easy color pattern if you’re not comfortable, generally, with two color knitting.  I love the way it fits.  This was the first time I’ve ever used Mission Falls 136 so I wasn’t sure what to expect from the wool.  It’s not itchy so it won’t be torture to wear the sweater this winter.

All in all, I’m quite pleased with the final project.
